Microfinance, the unique system of providing money to poor or low-income groups of people has lifted millions out of poverty. Or has it? Has it allowed entrepreneurship to flourish or caused a loan and debt culture amongst the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world?

Led by AFP returned volunteer Priya Lukka and her experiences with slum communities in Gujarat, the event sparked a fascinating debate about this model and its impacts in India, Nepal and Malawi. Will this work in Glasgow?
