The Forgotten Millions: Gyaan Yatra Event
Human rights atrocities make the news everyday. Syria is on everyone’s mind today. But what about the forgotten millions that have faced abuse and discrimination for not just decades but centuries?
The caste system in India was developed centuries ago. Deeply rooted in society, untouchability (the practice of discriminating against someone because of caste) was made illegal in 1950 as part of the Indian Constitution . It’s easy to think it no longer exists at all in modern India. But it does. It continues to oppress millions of people in India, denying them basic rights to education, healthcare and above all dignity and respect.
Come to this event to watch a film on how this ancient system still continues across India today.
Followed by panel guests and discussion.
